The Lighter Side of Italy: Falanghina!
Over the last couple of weeks ShopUncorked.com has added and featured
some heavier red wines to the site and our clients. Now, we turn our
attention to the lighter side and share another special find: Cantina
Del Taburno Falanghina.
Falanghina is an ancient Italian white grape and thought to be the grape variety behind Falernian, the most famous wine of Roman antiquity. These vines thrive in volcanic soils and in the warm Mediterranean climate. The varietal typically shows classic apple and pear flavors depending on where it is grown.

Product Description
"Campania’s Aglianico del Taburno DOC in the province of Benevento,
is an excellent source of Aglianico – and at very attractive prices. The
region, north of Naples at an elevation of 1,000 feet, has a long
growing season, hot days and moderately cool nights. Volcanic soil
supports the vines. The Aglianico from this area is fruit-driven,
approachable, and ready to drink in the shorter term. Cantina del
Taburno is the leading producer in the zone." - Winery Notes
