Product Description

"Tortoise Creek is a range of very fine varietal wines from the Languedoc district of the South of France and California.
Tortoise Creek was created by a British couple, Mel and Janie Master who lived much of their lives in the wine business in the South of France as well as California. During their time in France, they developed close relationships with many of the top growers and winemakers in the Languedoc and have been producing wines from this area since 1990.
The concept with Tortoise Creek was to work more with the individual grower and less with the large cooperatives as they understood that the key to any good wine, whether it is from the Languedoc, California or any other wine region was low yields. With that in mind, Tortoise Creek wines have been selected and blended from growers who understand this philosophy. We work closely with our growers in California and France to hand craft our selections." - Winery Notes

Product Description

"The Finlayson family is synonymous with modern era winemaking in the Cape region.  Three generations of Finlayson's have played an important role in the Cape's modern wine industry.  Dr Maurice Finlayson, a pathologist originally from Inverness in Scotland started the family wine business at Hartenberg farm in Stellenbosch.  It was here that his son Walter started his career that would take him on to Blaauwklippen where he twice won the award of 'South African winemaker of the year.'  Walter then started and built up Glen Carlou in Paarl and was joined by his son David in 1994.  David qualified as a winemaker at Elsenburg Agricultural college in Stellenbosch as Dux student and then proceeded to travel the world gaining winemaking experience at first in Australia (Peter Lehmann Wines) and then in France at the world renowned Chateau Margaux.  In 2004, having sold Glen Carlou, David bought the farm Woodlands, a portion of the original Edgebaston farm, which is situated near the fringes of the town on the slopes of the Simonsberg facing North East through to South East.  It was decided to rename the farm and wines to Edgebaston as this was the area in England that his mother was born and raised in. Hanna Cabernet 2010
Line 39 Wines
What do February, Valentine's Day and Hanna Cabernet all have in common?  They are all focused on the "heart" of matters!

February is National Women's Heart Health Month and what better way to honor that than to feature a red wine (best for your ticker!) and winery founded by a Cardiac Surgeon?!  Well, for Uncorked, there is no better way than to celebrate, educate and drink wonderful wines!

Product Description

"Hanna Winery was founded in 1985 by Dr. Elias Hanna, a world-renowned cardiac surgeon, who was eager to find a place in the country to continue the farming heritage of his upbringing in Syria. In the 1970s he realized his dream with the purchase of 12 acres in the Russian River Valley. Dr. Hanna’s oldest daughter, Christine, now runs the operations of the winery. Hanna owns 600 acres of land in the Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley and the Mayacamas Mountains, 250 of which are planted.
Under Christine Hanna’s guidance, the winery has evolved into an estate philosophy that blends the viticultural diversity of fruit cultivated in its four vineyard estates in three unique appellations. With the help of winemaker Jeff Hinchliffe, they craft award-winning wines, such as its Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc and Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon." - Winery Notes

Line 39 Wines
Just in time to make a special delivery to your loved one for Valentine's Day - Loveblock Pinot Gris from Kim Crawford!

This beautiful wine is perfectly priced to deliver as well...under $20 per bottle!

Product Description

"Loveblock Pinot Gris vines sit high above Marlborough’s Awatere Valley on the Loveblock Farm. The harsh environment that makes the Loveblock Farm ideal for Sauvignon Blanc – the strong winds that slow vine growth leading to very small berries with high aromatic concentration – also makes it suited to premium whites in general, including Pinot Gris. Loveblock is charged with creating the best wine to express this extraordinary place with its unique aspect.
Loveblock follows a deeply held belief of ethical farming which allows the wine to show its true and naked terroir. The Loveblock farm in the Lower Awatere sub region of Marlborough, is certified organic by BioGro New Zealand, the country’s leading organic certifier.
Where possible the grapes were machine harvested, a quarter of them had to be hand-picked due to weaker vines. The machine harvested fruit was transferred to the adjacent winery for processing where the grapes were destemmed and crushed before being pressed. The juice was then cold settled for 36 hours. Racked and warmed the juice was inoculated with organic yeast and then cool fermented until deemed in balance, when then fermentation was stopped. The wine was then racked, stabilized and filtered for bottling." - Winery Notes
