WOW: Wine of the Week

"B" Adventurous!
Line 39 WinesShopUncorked.com is pleased to offer another selection from our client favorite, B Cellars!  This Chardonnay from Dutton Ranch is perfect for even non-Chardonnay lovers.  And with the holidays just around the corner, this is a FANTASTIC hostess gift!

Product Description

"When B Cellars’ founder Jim Borsack first encountered his partner Duffy Keys at a Fourth of July barbecue in 2002, both executives were exploring new life paths in the wine business. Over a drop of the good stuff, of course, their journeys became intertwined when they discovered that they not only shared the same tastes in wine but were also on parallel missions to acquire vineyard property.
In the spring of 2003, they scrapped their solo endeavors, formed B Cellars, and got serious about structuring a first-rate wine company predicated upon two absolute principles: first, to produce exceptional artisan wines, season after season, by employing a multi-vineyard strategy, and second, to develop distinct flavors by blending wines from mutually complementary varietals.  Not long after they met the third key player, Kirk Venge named 'One of the Top 20 New Winemakers in the World' by Food & Wine Magazine (October 2005). Kirk brought with him a 37 year wine making legacy via his father, Nils, and a keen understanding of the Napa appellation. A bond was established almost immediately. “With Kirk’s passion for great wine, first-hand knowledge and commitment to excellence, it quickly became apparent that he was the ideal winemaker for B Cellars,” said Jim.  All team members were in concert with the idea of blending the finest red wines from the Napa Valley Appellation, and Kirk was given the mandate to create three proprietary blends of consummate quality from year to year.
The B Cellars name and logo stand for a commitment to seasonless excellence. The letter ‘b’ and the degree symbol ยบ refer to BRIX, a wine term which defines the optimal sugar/alcohol content in grape juice that indicates the potential for greatness.  B Cellars is committed to the artisan approach, creating perfectly balanced and complex wines. We are confident you will enjoy them and be proud to share them with friends and family." - Winery Notes

Poizin for Your Party!
Line 39 WinesSadly, this is our last week of featuring frightfully delightful wines for all things Halloween.  At under $17 per bottle, this Dry Creek Zinfandel could easily become a household favorite throughout the year!

Product Description

"Since 1994, owners, operators, brothers and partners, Steve and Bruce Cousins have transformed Armida Winery from a quiet producer of good wines into a much livelier place focusing on artisan, single-vineyard wines from the top growers in Sonoma County.
The Cousins hand-craft over ten different wines and feature some of the best vineyards in California, including Maple Vineyards Zinfandel and Maple Vineyards Tina’s Block (perhaps California’s BEST Zinfandel vineyard), Durell Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Parmelee-Hill Pinot and Zinfandel, Bacigalupi Pinot Noir, Castelli Knight Pinot Noir, and Dutton Chardonnay.  From the seven-acre estate vineyard, they produce Il Campo ("Field Blend"), a delicious combination of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah." - Winery Notes

Poizin Dry Creek Zinfandel 2014 Tasting Notes

"A lush, delicious and 'serious' wine but in a fun package! The nose is fruit driven with fresh plum, bing cherry, spicy peppercorn and zinberry. The mouthfeel is soft with a hint of milk chocolate, sweet oak, and a long vanilla finish. The deep color and firm structure are enhanced by the addition of the Petite Sirah and the firm tannins softened by moderate oak. Enjoy this POIZIN with caution; it is The Wine to Die for!" - Winery Notes

Feelin' "Sassy" That It's October!
Line 39 WinesIt's back!  Not only October, but also Tenuta's Sassoregale Sangiovese!  Long has this been a ShopUncorked.com favorite and we are pleased to re-offer this delightful staple back to the site. Priced at UNDER $15 per bottle, this is one to order by the case - stock up and always be ready for impromptu company or entertaining.

Product Description

"Tenuta Sassoregale is in the Tuscan Maremma. Located in the south of the region, the Maremma’s wild, untouched territory is Italy's new wine frontier.
The estate is located among gently sloping hills covered in the medley of vegetation that makes up Mediterranean scrubland. Broom, arbutus, bramble briars, juniper, myrtle and heather grow among cork-oaks, holm oaks, cypresses and pines. All can be found in this soothing, wild landscape between the sea and the high hills of Montalcino rising to the north-northeast.
High planting densities, cordon spurtrained vines, low environmental impact vineyard management and meticulous cellar operations are all instrumental in preserving a strong, distinctively territorial imprint on wines that are known for their balance power and elegance.'" - Winery Notes

Sassoregale Sangiovese 2014 Tasting Notes

Its color is a bright ruby red. On the nose, it is clean and precise, with hints of morello cherries, wild berries and a moderate spiciness. On the palate it reveals a full-bodied, assertive flavor, which expresses both great intensity and elegance.
