WOW: Spring for trying a NEW wine!

WOW: Wine of the Week

Spring for Trying a NEW Wine!

Marcato Colli Scaligeri SoaveIt is time to SPRING for trying NEW wines!  Lighter dishes, impromtu gatherings and hot days will demand a versatile (and cost effective) wine solution!  Try this new Italian Soave!  For just over $10 per bottle, you can SPRING at taking a chance on something NEW!

Soave is a dry white Italian wine from the Veneto region in Northeast Italy.  Only white wine is produced in the Soave region with a minimum of 70% of the wine coming from the Garganega grape. For Soave DOC wine, up to 30% of the blend can come from Trebbiano di Soave which is also known as Verdicchio and Nestrano.

Product Description

"Ever since the beginning of the 20th century researchers have identified in Soave, the eastern part of the hilly area around Verona, a specific identity linked to the origin of the soil, predominantly volcanic, which differentiates it from the other historic areas of Bardolino and Valpolicella. The Soave Doc area is, as a matter of fact, the most significant one among all the other areas in Veneto Region, that produce wine of denomination of controlled origin." - Winery Notes

"Champagne Duval-Leroy was founded in 1859 when two Champagne families came together to share their interests.  Since its creation, Champagne DUVAL-LEROY has been located in Vertus, in the heart of “La Cote des Blancs”. Currently the House cultivates about 200 hectares, much of which is devoted to production of high quality Chardonnay grapes. The predominance of Chardonnay in the elaboration of the cuvees gives a finesse, lightness and elegance to DUVAL-LEROY champagnes. Headed by Carol DUVAL-LEROY since 1991, the company is one of the few remaining 100% family-owned Champagne firms and is ranked in the 15 top Champagne houses." - Winery Notes

Going "Green" for St. Patrick's Day: Cuma Organic Wines

Cuma WineryWhat better way to celebrate and honor St. Patrick Day than with "green" wine?!

The two WOW: Wine of the Week selections are from Michel Torino Estates, Cuma Torrontes (this does actually have a green tint!) and Cuma Malbec.

Both wines are value priced under $12 per bottle and will be the perfect way to celebrate and wear your green with pride (and good taste!).

Cuma Organic Wines

Cuma is the range of organic wines produced by Michel Torino Estate. Viticulture and winemaking practices are strictly controlled and certified organic. Fertilizers used in the vineyards are sheep manure, ants are controlled with diatom earth, and weeds are cut with machetes: all natural elements. In the winery, sulphur levels are lower than conventional wines.
“Cuma” means pure and clear in Aymará, the language of a tribe who inhabited the region in the time of the Incas. For Michel Torino, the organic practices are a way to reconnect to the land and contribute ecological responsibility for future generations. The expression of the wines is accentuated; flavors and tastes are more intense, fresher and more natural, because the grape is allowed to express itself in the most genuine way.
